  1. Hi Emily,
Your latest post is fascinating. I'm amazed that you could get as close to the animals as you did. It's good to be experiencing them with someone who knows about their behavior. The tundra flowers are beautiful. Do you know what kind of flower it is? Yes, the depth and breadth of creation is pretty remarkable isn't it? The fact that anyone or anything can survive in such climate is hard to comprehend. The photo of the concrete doorways from WWII reminds me of a story about my friend Eugene Walter who was a cryptographer during the War, stationed on the Aleutian Islands. He and his comrades would devise encrypted messages based on nursery rhymes and poems that would not have been familiar to enemy ears. Good luck with the summer classes. Keep us posted on how it all goes. I saw on a map of Alaska that you are less than 40 miles from the Arctic Circle.
    Love,
    Mary Alma

  2. Hi, Emily1
I am so excited about this adventure you are embarking upon! Your mother emailed me today with the link to your blog and I have been catching up for the last few hours. I am looking forward to following you on this journey. I wanted to let you know that your mom and dad sent pictures of the marker that has been placed at Taylor's tree. It is beautiful! We are so touched by the kindness and thoughtfulness that has gone into this loving gesture from Taylor's friends! We love you all and you especially will be in our thoughts and prayers throughout this summer adventure. Peace be with you! Love, Frances Cox
